A big shoutout to my wonderful group mates for being so patient with me, an annoying blurhead, and accommodating my shortcomings. Couldn't have done achieve this without you all. THANK YOU! Thank you, also, to our lecturer Mr. Justin for guiding and teaching us all the way.

Thank you:
Japhia for being patient with me and guiding me all the way.
Norlyana for being understanding, forgiving and also patient with me.
Melissa for pulling me into this group and encouraging me. (You can say "I told you so" for as long as you want. I give you that. xD)
Yvonne for liaising with EcoWorld and making sure our shoot goes smoothly.
Sharmine for being our driver and helping out in the every way you can.

I have thought long and hard on how to title this post. Eventually I settled on the title you see now. I never expected this to happen. Really, I didn't. Neither did my group mates. Despite all the drama I went through on my part, I was really glad to have worked with these bunch of classmates. They are the best and I couldn't ask for more. So, it all started as a class assignment/competition.

When it was announced that one of our assignment was tied with a corporate competition, we didn't really think much about winning the competition. At least, I didn't. Truth to be told, I wanted to join another group. I have never worked with my current group mates before and I am a person that likes to be in my comfort zone. Especially when it comes to group assignments. On the other hand, my best friend Melissa wanted to work with this bunch of people. One thing lead to another and eventually we join this group.

I will not bore you all about the drama I personally went through. Let's just say I was being a bit too sensitive, overreacting and overthinking a bit too much and generally being stupid. I mean, it's my first time working with this group of people! There are bound to be insecurities! Right? At least, this is the case for me. But slowly, I warmed up to them and we had fun shooting this video.

Why fun? First, I was asked, no wait, TOLD to be exact, to be the director of photography. Which means, I am the one handling the camera. I have absolutely NO experience at handling the camera. See, usually I am in charge of writing the script, finding cast, doing props or appearing IN FRONT of the camera, not BEHIND the camera. So, as a first timer, I was absolutely terrified and have no idea what I am doing. Thank God for my director, Japhia. She is really patient with me and guide me every step of the way. So did my producer, Norlyana. THANK YOU!

Second, we brave through haze and rain to get our video done. Well, most of our shoot was indoors anyway. So it was okay for us. But for other groups, some of their shoot was outdoors. So, kudos to you all!

After we pass up the assignment, we thought it was over. Well, I thought it was over. I moved on. Then came the first surprise. Our of 25 videos, our video was selected as one of the top 10. We are to present our idea in front of a group of judges. Some from EcoWorld, some from Taylor's. All high ranking people. When I saw the date of the presentation and realised I have to give up attending a wedding, I was instantly upset. It was a Saturday. WEEKEND. I think my group mates were pretty upset too, for having part of the weekend taken away.

A little input here, this competition doesn't only involve my batch. It also involved our seniors (a semester ahead of us) and our juniors, the foundation and diploma students.

This was taken at Eco Sanctuary, where we present our video and idea to a group of high ranking judges from EcoWorld and Taylor's.

Fast forward a little. Came the day they announced the winner. Which was yesterday. And we were surprised. All of us never expected it. One second, we were 1 among many. The next, we were...well, THE one. After the whole event, people we know and don't know came up to congratulate us. The press that were present at the event asked for our names and wanted to take our photos and interview us. We got a chance to work with FOREFRONT International, the company in charge of producing all of EcoWorld's videos and advertisings. When we went onstage to accept the mock check, so many cameras were pointed at us, taking our photos. We were also invited to lunch with the VIPs.

Honestly, I was awkward and ill at ease. I am so seldom in the limelight. I am always at the sideline, being ordinary and anonymous. Suddenly, being in the center of everyone's attention...it was just too much. I am really glad and happy I wasn't alone. I have 5 other people to share it with and I am more than happy to share it with them.

What now? We be happy. We celebrate. Then we move on. There are still many things to be done. Life doesn't just stop at winning this competition. Yes, we won. We gain a little bit of reputation. So what? Life still goes on. People will talk about it for another 1 more day, maybe? Then it will be old news. It will be the past. We move on to make more achievements. We live for the future.

As Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Pardeep Nair says, "Everyone in this room is a winner!" Yes, indeed. Everyone that participated the competition is a winner. We took up the challenge and we did it. To me, it isn't about the RM5,000. It is the experience and the friendship built during the whole project. No money can buy that for me.

Of course, some might say it is easy for me to say all these because I won. Wrong. I lost a lot of competition before this. Sure, I was sad and disappointed, as all human beings with emotions would. But, in the end, I would come to realise that it is the process that mattered. How the whole competition taught me priceless and valuable lessons and gaining experiences.

So, here I am. Holding a huge mock check of RM5,000. We are all going to share our prize money, of course. A big hooray to my group and all my fellow course mates that participated in this competition! We all did great and we are all winners! =D

Before I end this post, I would like to remember a special someone that was briefly in my life and has played a role in bringing me to where I am today. This couldn't have happen if this person hadn't sow the seed in my secondary school life.

Hello, Tan Wei! Happy belated 21st birthday! What a coincident your birthday was yesterday. Bet you are laughing your ass off. Remember how I said I am so not into video and softwares and technology stuff? Technically, still true. I still never like post-production work and still very awkward with the camera. But you started it all. You introduced me into this world. Now, I am in this world and, of all the things to do, winning a video competition. LOL.

Hope you are doing okay up there. I still think of you from time to time. Whenever I think of you, I will send up a little prayer for you and your family. It is still hard for some of us to let you go. Miss you, my friend. Rest well.

To wait or not to wait?

Ah, wells... Here we are again on the subject of love. Hello again, my readers. Life has been pretty busy. I had some time scrolling through Facebook tonight and came across this post and I felt like blogging about it. It is, after all, what everyone has in mind in one way or another. So, to wait or not to wait? That is the question.

Maybe because I recently turned 21, so this subject resurface on my mind from time to time. I am eligible to date now. (Church rules. Long story. Don't ask. Or rather, asked me privately. =P) Or maybe because the older generation are teasing me on this subject. One way or another, this subject cannot be avoided for long. It is bound to surface one way or another.

For me, I have to agree with that photo. Love IS worth the wait. When the right time comes, Mr. or Ms. Right will come along and there it is - the perfect love. One might ask, when is the right time and who is the right one? On this, I can offer no answer. You just know. But there are a few guidelines here which are given to me from the older generation and through reading books.

1. Financially stable
Yes, the money talk. I have heard some stories about couples breaking up over financial issues. How can one focus on building a relationship when the issue of where your next meal is coming from is constantly on your mind? It's as simple as that. The phrase "no money, no talk" really comes into good use here. Money can't buy everything, yes. But without money, you simply can't survive. You have to first be able to take care of yourself only you can think about taking care of others.

2. Maturity
I do have to admit, I was and sometimes still am very much affected by the fairytale love the media portray these days. Many a times we look at a couple being all lovey dovey in public and we will go "ahhh... so romantic...", we don't think about what happens behind close doors. It takes a certain level of maturity to handle a relationship. I mentioned this in an earlier post: The joy of intimacy is the reward of commitment. That's from a book called "I kissed dating goodbye" by Pastor Joshua Harris. What is commitment? Not everybody understands that. Hence, maturity. To understand commitment, you have to go through some life lessons and there is where you grow to become a mature, responsible adult.

I did say I would mention a few guidelines and I could go on and on and on and on. But I will just stop here for now. The point here is that it doesn't hurt to wait. It might be agonising, I know. I, too, sometimes wonder when is the right time and who is the right person. I get depressed (I call this the "Singlehood Syndrome") sometimes when I see people around me getting into relationships. But I know this the season for me to be single and to wait.

Pastor Joshua Harris wrote: The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing. Which I think is very wise. Why should I get my heart broken over and over again when all I have to do is just wait and my heart will never be broken? Patience is the keyword here. Just wait and the best shall be given to you.

Of course this is just what I believe in. This is what I like to call my "little philosophy". Some might think it's nonsense. Well, I think it makes sense. Don't we all always save the best for last? I believe firmly on God's promises to me and I know that if it's His will, I will meet Mr. Right at the right time.

While waiting, I shall go and see the world. Enjoy the freedom of being single. Life is short and I won't be young forever. Before I settle down, I would like to experience what the world has to offer me. Go have fun. Travel around. See the world

Love is worth the wait. =)

God bless you all. =)

21st

Hello, my readers! First of all, my many apologies for going MIA. I know it's been quite a long time since my last post. I have been pretty busy with classes and work. (Of course also a little lazy.. hehe..) Also, the short series "The city girl and the kampung boy" is not turning out well. Very unfortunately. I am still working on it, so stay put, okay? I hope I can get it done soon. Again, plenty, plenty apologies. I promise I will try to blog regularly about anything and everything.

21. The magic age has arrived for me. I just celebrated my 21st birthday a couple of days ago. (Thank you in advance for your wishes! #syoksendiri xD) So now, I can drink, gamble, own a property, get married, vote and do anything I want legally. For I am a legal adult now. Let me tell you a little bit about my adventures leading up to my birthday. I promise you, stick with me until the end of the post and you will have the most hilarious and amusing time of your life. (Okay. Probably not the MOST hilarious and amusing time of your life. But still... Stick with me. You won't get bored. Promise! xD)

It started off with my first solo trip to Singapore. I was and still am on semester break and decided to take a break (Oh hey! Is this consider a pun? If it is then I will say "pun intended!"! xP) from all my responsibilities here and fly off to Singapore for a short vacation. Much to my surprise, my parents actually gave me permission to fly there alone. Probably because my second sister and cousins are there. So, Singapore, here I come! It was a week before my 21st birthday.

My dear cousin sister Sophia remembered my birthday. According to her, I told her once and she remember it. God knows when I told her, LOL. Anyways, the day before I was due to fly back, we spent the day in Sentosa Island and towards the evening, we went to the beach. It was beautiful. My sister, Eunice, Sophia and I were also sort of waiting for my cousin brothers Sean and Xuan Hong, cousin brother-in-law, Zhi Yu and brother-in-law, Chee Kit, to arrive. When they did, they brought a cake along to surprise me. So, yes, they sang "Happy Birthday" to me at the beach. Awesome, right? The "awesomest" part is yet to come.

After they finish singing, they asked me to pick the cherries off the cake with my mouth. I was confused. Why? They shrugged it off, saying it is a tradition. I, being too innocent and naive, believed them and I really started picking the cherries off the cake. Xuan Hong took away my camera and bag, saying it will be easier for me finish my task. Okay, fine. I was rather grateful for his consideration. Even thanked him. Finally, when I was picking off the last cherry, Chee Kit and Xuan Hong pushed my head into the cake. So, that's their motive for wanting me to pick the cherries off the cake with my mouth. Surprise, surprise! Everyone laughed. Me, I was mortified and shocked but accepted it all, thinking it was the end of my prank. Heh. Right. So NOT the end.

They took photos with me and all that. Suddenly, Xuan Hong asked me to remove my spectacles and close my eyes. This time, I had a bad feeling. I was like, please don't throw me into the sea. I don't have a change of clothing. Of course Xuan Hong and Chee Kit did just that. I got pretty wet. The best part? Sean told me that he actually wanted to bring along a change of clothing for me. But somehow, don't know why, he didn't. So, I have to spend the rest of the night walking around dripping wet. I do have awesome cousins, don't I? After I came back from Singapore, I found out it was my eldest sister that gave them the permission to prank me like that. All because I told her that I wanted a memorable and unforgettable 21st birthday. Well, it seems I got what I wished for. Just not exactly the way I wanted it to be. But I will definitely be able to look back to this day and laugh about it for my whole long life. =)

Getting my head slapped into the cake.

That's my early birthday celebration in Singapore. My actual birthday arrived. It was rather tame compare to the wildness I experienced in Singapore. I went window shopping and lunch with a university close friend, Sovkar and dinner with my family. There were also the usual birthday wishes from friends on Facebook and Whatsapp. Of course I got some teasing from some uncles in church, telling me it's time to find a boyfriend and settle down. No way I am going to tie myself in a relationship this soon. All in all, it was pretty simple and quiet.

I don't have a big party where many people showed up with gifts like some people do, as shown on their Facebook. There wasn't a huge cake for me. No balloons. No flowers. Nothing. But what I had was more than enough. Close friends and family to celebrate with me. A small simple cake with my family. People taking the time to wish me happy birthday.

I remember being a little upset initially when I learned that my family don't really want to throw a party for me. I mean, I am going to be 21! Coming of age and all. Both my sisters had a 21st birthday party. Why not me? But now, I learnt a very valuable lesson. Love and care can be shown in different ways. Throwing a party for me and many people showing up doesn't necessarily means I am loved. Sure, tons of people can come for my party. BUT do I really know them all? Do I have a close and personal relationship with them? Are they showing up just for the food and for the sake of showing up? Do they really love and care for me? Maybe some do. But there might be some that don't.

I think my celebration of my 21st birthday was perfect and wonderful. I spent it with the people that really, truly love me, care for me and accept me for who I am. No doubt about that. Why be upset about not having a birthday party? Why be depressed about not having 50 or 100 people on the guest list? I wouldn't trade or change anything. I might not have 100 people to invite. But I do have 10 very close, very intimate people to be with. (Metaphorically speaking, of course. =D)

Count the blessings that I have. Look at the things that I possessed. Life can be so much brighter and happier when I learn to be grateful for what I have and not wishing for what others have. God is fair and gracious to me and I intend to remember that from now onwards. I already have more than enough. What more can I wish for? I mustn't be greedy for greed can be one of my destruction, my downfall. I am content. I am joyous. I am grateful. Thank God for my life. Thank God for everything.

So, now, I am a legal adult. Of course I will be wise and responsible. (And sometimes a tab bit mischievous and naughty. Oh, what is life without some adventure and rebelliousness? haha..) The world is waiting for me to explore and I intend to do just that. Explore and have some adventure. And, of course, live life to the fullest. =)

The Love Series: Gentle & Loving Touch

The door opened and Tara looked up from the stuffed bear she was holding. The lady in black clothes walked in with a man and a woman almost her own parents' age and a boy.

"Here she is. This is Tara. In your application form, you stated that you want to adopt a female at around the age of 5, right?" the social worker said.

"Yes, we did. William here has asked for a younger sibling for a long time. So, we decided to adopt." Miriam said. 15-year-old William blushed but continue to look at his new sibling in awe and wonder.

As they were standing at the door talking, Tara looked on quietly, observing their every move. Even though she was just 5, she had learned to be very cautious and observe people's movement. It was to avoid her parents beatings and mood swings. When her parents were in a good mood, they would leave her alone. But if they were in a bad mood, which was most of the time, they would beat her and do things to her that hurt so bad.

The man, woman and boy came towards her and sit down opposite her while the lady in black clothes stood by the door.

"Hi, Tara. My name is Miriam. This is Steven and William. We are going to take you to our home. You are coming to live with us." Miriam said softly.

She has a soft and gentle voice. Mama never speak like this to me, Tara thought.

Steven reached out his hand to pat Tara's head. Tara immediately ducked and moved a little further away from Steven.

"No, no. It's okay. I am not going to hurt you. I just want to touch your head, that's all." Steven said.

Tara shook her head, clutching her bear tighter.

Steven held up his hands. "Okay. It's okay. No touching." he said.

Steven and Miriam exchanged glances. According to the social worker, Tara was abused badly by her parents. She was beaten, sexually assaulted and neglected. She was fed irregularly. That's why she was so small and thin. There were a lot of marks and scars on her. A neighbour noticed her dirty clothes and bleeding cheek when she was out in the garden briefly and contacted the police. She was rescued from the evil clutches of her parents and put up for adoption.

William went to her side. Tara moved away a little. "Hey. It's okay. I am your new big brother and I won't hurt you. Come on, let's go home."

Tara looked at the lady in black clothes. She nodded and smiled. Tara got up slowly and walked out the door with her new family.

The next few months was chaos for the family. Tara refused to be touched by anyone. Her temper was unpredictable. She would scream and cry for no reason. When Miriam or Steven tried to talk to her, she would turn her head away and cover her ears. When William tried to play with her, she would throw the toys away and kick William. She would break things in the house, throw her food on the floor and generally cause a lot of trouble for the family.

Miriam and Steven tried to show her that they weren't like their parents. But Tara just refused to open up to this family. Miriam and Steven were just about to give up when an old friend came to visit them and gave them something that helped them with Tara.

Rocky the Golden Retriever joined the family. He was full of energy and always ready to play. Soon, Rocky, in his own doggy way, noticed that Tara wasn't the same as the rest of the family. Tara rejected Rocky just like she rejected her new family members. But Rocky wasn't about to give up on Tara.

One evening, William was brushing Rocky's beautiful, long golden coat. Tara watched William through an open window. Rocky was enjoying the brushing and woofed happily. When William was done brushing Rocky, William gave Rocky a big hug and patted him. Rocky licked William's face in response.

"He seems very happy when you touch him." Tara said.

"Oh, yes. This is one of the ways we show love and that is through touch." William said.

Tara didn't respond to that. She just looked at Rocky.

"Do you...want to brush him?" William asked.

Tara shook her head and walked away. William sighed and turned his attention back to Rocky.

One day, Tara was in one of her bad moods. She was crying in a corner of her bedroom. Her bedroom door wasn't close properly and Rocky, hearing the crying sounds, poked his head into the room to investigate. He stood at the bedroom door, whining softly. Tara saw Rocky and screamed at him, wanting him to go away. Rocky, of course, didn't understand what she wanted. He only know that Tara was crying and he wanted to do something to help. Tara started throwing her things at him. So, he didn't go into the room but he lie down outside her bedroom door, looking at him with his big brown eyes. Tara was surprised. She quiet down and looked at the dog.

William came up the stairs looking for Rocky. He saw Tara and Rocky staring at each other. He sat down beside Rocky and looked at Tara.

"Do you know why Rocky is still here even though you threw things at him?" William asked.

Tara shook her head. "Why?"

"Because Rocky knows you are sad and he wanted to comfort you. But he doesn't know how to say it. He just wants you to know that he is your friend and wants to be with you." William said.

"But I threw things at him. I screamed at him. Why would he still want to be my friend?" Tara asked.

"He loves you, Tara. He doesn't care that you threw things at him and screamed at him. He loves you and wants to comfort you." William answered.

Tara looked at William. "Really?"

"Really." William said, smiling. "Do you want to play catch with Rocky and me?"

"Okay." Tara said.

From that day on, Tara began to change. She started to open up to William and Rocky. When William was in school, Tara would talk to Rocky. Rocky would lie down beside Tara. William taught Tara how to play catch with Rocky and showed her the tricks that he taught Rocky. Soon, Tara smiled and laughed more often. Her wild mood swings becoming lesser and lesser.

But Tara still wouldn't touch Rocky or allow any of her new family members touch her. Even though she was opening up to her new family members, to William especially, but there was still this thick wall that she built around herself and wouldn't allow anyone to come through this wall. But everything changes one afternoon, when Tara woke up from her nap.

Tara had a bad dream and woke up screaming. Steven was at work and William was at school. Miriam was outside talk to a neighbour and didn't hear her scream. But Rocky heard. He immediately went to her bedroom and poked his head in. Tara was sitting on her bed, clutching her stuffed bear and crying. Rocky walked quietly to her side and looked at her. Then, he lie down beside her, putting his head on her lap.

William came home from school at that moment and Miriam came into the house with William.

"Rocky?" William called.

But Rocky didn't leave Tara's side. He continued to lie there while Tara sobbed. William came up the stairs in saw Rocky with Tara. He was surprised to see that Tara allowed Rocky to put his head on her lap. He came into the room and sat down beside her.

"Hey. Bad dreams again?" William asked.

Tara nodded her head.

"You know, you can always tell me and Rocky about it." William said.

Tara sniffed. Slowly she lifted her head up from her stuffed bear and looked at William. Then she looked at Rocky. Her right hand hovered over Rocky's head, as if she was unsure whether to push Rocky away or pat Rocky.

"It's okay. Rocky loves to be pat. Go ahead. Touch him." William encouraged Tara.

Tara slowly put her hand on Rocky's head.

"It's so soft." Tara whispered. William smiled but said nothing.

Tara began patting Rocky. Then, she looked at William.

"I dreamt that I was back with my mommy and daddy. Mommy was shouting at me. Then daddy came to me and took out his belt. He started to beat me. After that, he would take off my clothes and do things to me. When mommy and daddy touch me, I always feel painful. I am scared, William." Tara said, her eyes filled with tears again.

"You don't have to be scared anymore. You are here with us and you always will be here with us." William said.

Tara looked away and didn't respond. William slowly reach out for Tara's hand. Tara didn't flinch or move away. William held Tara's hand and said, "Tara, look at me." Tara looked at William.

"Mom, dad and I aren't like your mommy and daddy. We won't beat you and do bad things to you. We love you. Rocky loves you. When we touch you, we won't make you feel painful. See. I am touching you right now. Do you feel any pain?" William said.

Tara shook her head. Then, she put her head on Rocky while William gently stroke Tara's hair. Tara was finally responding to touch.

Soon, Tara settled in to this new family after months of chaos. After a while, she allowed Steven, Miriam and William to pat her head and hold her hand. She is now a healthy and beautiful little girl who adores her big brother. As William and Tara play catch with Rocky in the garden, Miriam and Steven watch from an open window.

"Thank God for that dog. If it wasn't for that dog, I think we probably would have given up on Tara." Steven commented.

"No, dear. Thank God for you son. If it wasn't for his patience, Tara wouldn't have open up to us." Miriam corrected Steven.

"I think we should thank God for both the dog and our son. Both of them helped Tara to let go of her past and accepts human touch again." Steven said.

"You are right. Now, Tara understands the meaning of love through Rocky and William's gently and loving touch." Miriam agreed.

They smiled at each other and turned their attention towards their son and daughter. They came in from the garden and William gave his parents the usual hug. To their surprise, Tara also came and hug them both. Tears came to Miriam's eyes when Tara said, "Mommy!" That was the most beautiful word spoken to Miriam. Tara is on the mend and accepted this family as her own.

They are a normal and simple family. But love made them feel rich and content with their lives. Love conquers everything.

This is the end of the Love Series. Hope you have enjoyed reading all these short stories and somehow be touched by them. Don't go away just yet. Up next is "The city girl and the kampung boy". Stay tune! =)

The Love Series: Just 4 U Services

Hello, my readers! A very Happy Chinese New Year to you all! Sorry for the 2 weeks break. It is Chinese New Year, after all! (Fine... I am just going to come out and admit it.. I have been a little lazy... xP) Anyways, I am going to continue on the series and stories that I have promised in February. Sorry, again, for the long wait! =)

"Honey! I am home!" Bob yelled after closing the front door. But his answer was screaming and crying from the dining room. "Hon?" Bob walked towards the dining room. There was his wife, Caroline, trying to clean up the mess on the floor while his two young children, John, 6, and Emily, 3, were crying and fighting over a toy. "Oh wow. What happened?" Bob asked. "What happened?! What happened here is that your son and your daughter wouldn't stop fighting the whole time I am trying to make dinner and now I have make a mess on the kitchen. I am tired and dinner is not ready!" Caroline burst out in tears. "Hey, hey. It's okay." Bob tried to console Caroline. "No it's not! I just... Can you please just take care of them and order delivery or something?" Caroline asked. "Sure." Bob said. Caroline left the dining room without another word.

That night, after Bob had put the children to bed, he went into their bedroom. "Hey. Everything alright?" Bob asked Caroline. Caroline just shrugged her shoulders as she continue to look at the papers in her hands. Bob gently removed the papers from her hands and turned her around to face him. Caroline avoided eye contact. "What is it, hon? You can tell me." Bob said gently. "I just feel tired of everything. I feel like I am the one having to juggle my job, the kids and the house chores. Not to say that you don't help. You do. I just wish I can have more "me" time, you know?" Caroline said. "I get it. I can try coming back earlier from work to help out" Bob said. "You said that the last time too. You did it for 2 days then it's back to normal." Caroline informed him. "Oh." Bob thought hard, trying to find a suitable response. "Never mind. Can I get back to my work now?" Caroline asked. "Yeah. Sure." Bob said. Caroline turned back to her work and Bob went to bed.

He felt so helpless in this kind of situation. He could feel the strain in their relationship and he tried to do something about it. But every single time he tried his plans, it backfired on him. Since the first time they met, Bob knew in his heart that Caroline is the one and only woman for him. But Caroline seems to lose faith in their relationship. She is drifting further and further away. If he didn't come up with something fast, he could lose his marriage soon. Time to ask for some advise from his buddies.

"You can try buying her flowers and chocolates. All girls love that." Frank, one of his best friend, said after hearing Bob's story. "No, man. I tried that once. She yelled at me, saying she has no need for flowers or chocolates." Bob said. "Really? Then I don't know how to help you out now. Women are a mystery to me." Frank shrugged his shoulders. "You know, maybe you can sacrifice some of your sleep time and free time to help her out around the house." Bob's other best friend, Martin, said. "She doesn't need flowers or chocolates. She needs help. All she wants is for you to be around the house more often and help out with the house chores and the kids." Martin added. "That simple?" Bob asked. "Try it out. I believe it will help save your marriage." Martin said while smiling.

The alarm clock rang. Caroline groaned and switched off the alarm. She turned around but to her surprise, Bob wasn't by her side. Strange, she thought, as she got out of bed. She checked the toilet. No Bob. Maybe he needed to be in the office earlier today and forgot to tell her, she thought, sighing while thinking about having to get the children up, fixing breakfast and dropping them off at the babysitter's place. She hoped they will cooperate today. She cannot afford to be late again. She washed up and went down to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. To her surprised, breakfast was prepared and the whole house was neat and tidy. She stood at the entrance of the kitchen, shocked. She noticed a card on the dining room table. It read: From: Just 4 U Services. Before she could react, she heard Emily crying in the bedroom. There isn't anymore time to think about it.

In the evening, she got back with the children. The laundry needed to be done. It's piling up, she thought. She switched on the television for the children and went to collect the dirty clothes. That's when she noticed the clothes hanging outside on the lawn. What in the whole wide world? she wondered. Again, a card was placed beside the washing machine. It read: From: Just 4 U Services. What is going on? she thought. With most of the house chores done, she went and prepared dinner. No maddening rushing, no pressure. What is Just 4 U Services? I got to ask Bob, she thought as she was preparing dinner.

She never had a chance to talk to Bob as he was busy with the children once he got home. But at night, in their bedroom, she finally had the time to ask him about it. "Hon, where were you this morning? You usually don't go to the office so early." Caroline asked Bob. "Oh, there is this project going on and I have to get to office early." Bob said casually. "Do you know that someone prepared breakfast and did most of the house chores today?" Caroline asked, "Just 4 U Services. Did you hire someone?" "No. Did you?" Bob asked. "No. I thought you did." Caroline answered, "I hope it goes on forever. I have never felt this relax in ages." Bob smiled.

Just 4 U Services went on and on. Caroline began to relax. The strain in Bob and Caroline's marriage is gone. But Caroline was determined to find out who was the one behind this Just 4 U Services. During lunch one afternoon, Caroline snuck home. To her surprise, she found Bob doing the laundry while munching a sandwich. "What in the whole wide world are you doing here?" Caroline asked. Bob turned around in surprised. "I could ask you the same question. You are suppose to be at work!" Bob said. Suddenly, everything clicked. Bob's "project". The early mornings. Caroline's eyes filled with tears. "You are behind the Just 4 U Services? You go to the office earlier so that you can have your lunch break earlier and come home to do the chores. You prepared the breakfast. You did all these for me?" "Hon, it's nothing. I just want to help. Oh no. Please don't cry. I didn't want to let you know because I am afraid I will mess things up and make you upset again." Bob hugged Caroline as she began to cry. "This is tears of joy and gratitude, you big dumbo! This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank you!" Caroline said, wiping her tears while laughing. "That's a relieve. I love you, sweetheart. I will do anything to make you happy, you know that, right?" Bob said. "Yes. I do. I love you too." Caroline smiled.

Just 4 U Services now has two people managing it. It's still ongoing and it will always be ongoing.

The Love Series: Precious Gift

Hello, my reader! A very happy Valentine's day to you all! Hope you all have been enjoying the love series. Love comes in all forms. Never forget this. Enjoy this day with your loved one and this includes your friends and family. Again, happy Valentines day! =)

Lily sat on the floor in her bedroom, in front of the cabinet. She slowly turned the key and opened the cabinet. It was filled with all kinds of things inside. She took them out one by one slowly and let the memories flow. All the things were given by her best friend, Ethan. The first thing she took out was a seashell.

Ethan and Lily were running around at the beach. They were only 4 years old. Their parents were sitting under the tree, talking. Suddenly, Ethan bent down and picked up something. It was a seashell. Lily came over. "Here, Lily. I want you to have it." "What's this for?" "For you to remember our friendship!" "Okay! Let me find something for you too!" Lily started looking around. She picked up a dried coral. "I think this is nice, Ethan. Here you go!" "Thank you!"

Lily smiled. That was the first time they exchanged gifts as a token of their friendship. A seashell and a coral. She took out another item. It was a bag full of dried dirt.

"Ethan!" Lily ran after him. They were 7 years old. School was over. The day before, Lily went out with her parents and saw something that reminded Lily of Ethan. It was a Power Rangers pencil case. She bought it for him with her pocket money and she wanted to give it to Ethan. She hadn't been able to find Ethan in school. Ethan turned around. "Hey, Lily!" "I saw this yesterday. I thought you might like it." "Oh, wow. Thanks! I will definitely give you something tomorrow. Gotta go now! See ya!" Lily smiled and waved goodbye. The next day, Ethan came to her classroom with a bag full of dirt. Lily's smile turned into a frown. "What is that?" "It's a mud pie! I perfected it after hours of hard work, you know! Do you like it?" "Uh... Ya. Thanks." Ethan smiled happily and left. Lily's girlfriends laughed and teased for quite some time later on.

A mud pie as a gift for a girl. Typical boy. Lily shook her head as she thought about that dreadful day. Then, she took out a doll made of dried lemongrass leaves.

Someone knocked softly on the door. Lily opened her eyes. Ethan came into her bedroom. They were 10 years old. Lily was sick and Ethan came over to visit her. "Hey, Lily. How are you doing?" "Okay, I guess. I am just sleeping all day and all night." "Here. I made you something. I know you get a little bored in here sometimes. Thought this might keep you company." He handed her the doll made of dried lemongrass leaves. "Thank you, Ethan. You are so kind." "Get well soon. I sort of miss you in school. No one to bully." "How nice to hear that Ethan. I think I won't get well anytime soon so that I won't be bullied by you." They both laughed. Lily took out an origami swan from her bedside table's drawer. "When I wasn't sleeping, I was folding this. Here." "Thanks. It's nice."

That boy can be so sweet yet so clueless sometimes, Lily thought. After they graduated from primary school, Ethan's family moved away. But they still communicated through letters and later on, emails. There were still quite a number of small little things that they give each other over the years. Keychains, magnets, different kinds of origamis and handmade bookmarks. Then, she took out a teddy bear.

It was school holiday. They were 16 years old. Ethan's family came back for a visit. Ethan and Lily met up at a cafe near their house. "Long time no see, little girl." "What do you mean by "little girl"?! I am 16, you know." "Right, right. All grown up and wouldn't want this little gift already, I suppose." "What?! No! Give me that!" Lily snatched that paper bag away from Ethan. That familiar teasing grin that she loved so much appeared on his face. "Still that same tomboy I left behind. Never changed." "Oh, shut up." Lily peeked into the bag and squealed. "Oh, this is so cute! A teddy bear!" "Little girls like teddy bears. So, I bought a teddy bear for you." "Who says only little girls like teddy bears? All girls, no matter what age, like cute things. Such as this teddy bear here." "So, where's mine?" "Where's yours what? Teddy bear? I thought boys don't play teddy bears." "What? No, not teddy bear. My gift!" "What gift? Since when I said I will give you a gift?" "Come on... It's tradition!" Lily laughed. She took out a package for Ethan. Ethan eagerly tore open the package. "A pair of socks?" "Why? It's nice and can be used for years to come." "Oh, fine, fine." They both laughed again.

Lily never met Ethan again until they were in university. They continue to send emails to each other. Once in a while, they would chat with each other using Facebook or Whatsapp. They still send small gifts to each other. Notebooks, diaries, stationaries, etc. Lily fingered the necklace around her neck.

It was night time. They were 21 years old. Both Ethan and Lily were on semester break. They met up at a cafe. After dinner, Ethan took out a box. "Open it." Lily smiled. She opened the box and saw this beautiful necklace. She was speechless. "Do you like it?" "This is beautiful. I love it! Thank you!" "Turn around. Let me put it on for you." Ethan lifted the necklace out from the box and put it on for Lily. Ethan took Lily's hand. "Lily, we have known each other since we were kids. I just want to let you know that you are the most important person in my life." Lily held her breath. Is he going to ask me to his girlfriend? Lily thought. "You will always and forever be my number one best friend." Lily exhaled in disappointment. Ethan released her hand and smiled at her. Lily took out a box from her handbag. Ethan smiled. "For me?" "No, for that waiter that I don't know at all. Of course it's for you, doofus!" Ethan laughed and opened the box. In it was a watch. He took it out and flipped it. His name is engraved at the back. "Wow, Lily. This is really awesome. Thanks!" He put on his watch.

"Lily! Are you ready?" Lily's mother called for her. "Coming!" Lily put back all the things into the cabinet carefully and locked it. She looked at herself in the mirror again. She was dressed all in black. Lily walked down the stairs. Her parents gave her a tight hug. They were going to attend Ethan's funeral.

At the cemetery, after the burial, Lily walked up to where Ethan's mother was standing with some other people. She hugged Ethan's mother. "He was just 21 years old. So young. So full of life. Ready to take on the world. But that cancer......" Ethan's mother started sobbing again. "I am so sorry, aunty." "Oh, wait, Lily. He left a letter for you."

Back in her room. Lily held the letter in her hands. She slowly opened it and started to read.

My dearest Lily,
I know I will be gone when you are reading this. I only have months to live. I already know that when we meet at the cafe. You have no idea how much I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I was ready to ask you to be my girlfriend that night. But when my medical report came back a day before, I knew I couldn't ask you that. No, I cannot be selfish. Life can be quite cruel to us.

I do not allow you to grief for me for long. Move on with your life. Remember all those dreams that you told me? Remember all those places that you wish to visit? Go. Chase your dreams. Visit those places. I wished I could be there with you every step of the way, to travel the journey of Life with you. But I can't now. It seems I have lost the map.

Not everyone can find a true friendship that can last their entire lifetime. We found it. I am really glad that I found this friendship before my life ends. It is one of the most precious gifts that God can give to us - true friendship. A true blessing. The things that you gave me, none of it can top this one amazing gift - you. Nobody understands me better than you. I thank you for this friendship.

Thank you for everything. I am really sorry that I cannot give you happiness anymore. I suppose all good things must come to an end. Don't grief for me any longer. I have no regrets. You shouldn't have any too. Live your life to the fullest. Find another happiness. You must promise me you will do all these. If you don't, I will come back and haunt you and will give you no peace. I can guarantee you this.

Don't cry anymore. At least you and I both know that love is blessing one other and wish each other well and happy.

I love you, little girl. Goodbye.

Love,
Ethan.

Lily wiped away her tears. She folded the letter and put in back into the envelope. She thought of all the good times they had. They would tease each other, complain to each other, share their darkest fear to each other, talk about their hopes and dreams for the future. All those little gifts have a little story behind it. She will treasure those gifts and remember those memories.

"I promise, Ethan. I love you too. Goodbye."

The Love Series: Endless Time

Lost time is never found again. - Benjamin Franklin

My family is small. Just me, my father and mother. My father's name is Tan Chung Fatt. My mother's name is Wong Mei Qing. We love each other very much.

I am hiding under my blanket. The sound of a glass breaking can be heard. Mommy and daddy is fighting again. I peek at the clock beside my bed. It is 2 am. Mommy is crying and daddy is coming up the stairs. I can heard heavy and angry footsteps. A door slam shut. Daddy must be in his study. I hear mommy cleaning up the broken glass. I pull my blanket closer around me and hug my boaster more tightly. When will this stop?

My father is the CEO of a big company. He works very hard everyday. Sometimes, he would come home very late because he needs to work. He will always come into my room with my mother and kiss me goodnight. If he comes home late, he will still come into my room quietly to kiss me. No matter how busy he is, he always have time for me.

I knock on the door quietly. Then I step into the room. Daddy is reading something on his huge desk, his back to me. "Daddy?" "Go ask your mom. I am not free." "But-" "I said I am not free." "Okay" I have not seen daddy for a few days. I just want to talk to him, hug him and kiss him. But I suppose he isn't free for any of that.

My mother is a marketing director. She works very hard too, like my father. But she comes home earlier than my father everyday. She will sit down beside me when I do my homework and help me with the problems that I don't know how to do. She is always there for me, telling me what is right and what is wrong.

I take my Maths workbook to mommy. She is in the kitchen, looking at her laptop. "Mommy?" "Go ask your dad. I am not free." "Daddy isn't home." "Then, go back to school and ask your teacher. Pay more attention in class." I go back to my room quietly and look at my Maths book. They are always so busy. When will they be free to notice me?

My parents have very busy jobs. No matter how busy they are, they always have time for me. They will take me out to parks and have picnics. They will attend my school plays. Sometimes, they will ask me to invite my friends over to our home and have a tea party. They will prepare special food and drinks for us.

Today, teacher asks us to invite our parents to our upcoming Mooncake Festival Celebration in school. During recess, some of my classmate surround me. "So, is your parents coming? I have never seen your parents before." I remain silent. "Told you so. Her parents won't come. I wonder why?" "That's because she doesn't have parents! The top student in class don't have parents!" My classmates start to tease me. "You don't have a mommy! You don't have a daddy! You are a nobody!" Then they leave me alone. I wipe my tears silently.

When it is my birthday, they will buy me a birthday cake and celebrate with me. The presents they give me is always extra special and nice. They will throw a party for me and invite all my friends and their parents to come. They will blow out the candles and cut the cake with me. Even when it is not my birthday, they will still give me little presents.

It's my birthday. I believe mommy and daddy will remember my birthday today. I wait for them the whole day and night. I wait and wait. The clock strike 12. It's midnight and they are not back yet. Finally, I ask my nanny about them. It seems that they both have a meeting and event to attend tonight and won't be back until late. I go to my bedroom and look out the window. There is a star shinning brightly. "My wish is to have my mommy and daddy spend some time with me." I then go to bed and cry myself to sleep.

My parents show me their love through the things they do for me. I have no doubt that they love me and I am their precious little girl. I love my parents very much too. I appreciate what they do for me and how they work hard to give the best for me. There is always time for me and I love them for that. They always put aside their work just to spend time with me. My parents are awesome.

During recess, teacher ask to talk to me. "You wrote a very good essay here and I submitted it for an essay competition. You got the first prize!" I smile a little. "Could you ask your parents to come to school to see me?" I freeze and look at teacher with wide eyes. "You are not in trouble, don't worry. It's just that I would like to meet them and personally tell them about your achievements in class. I know they have requested for your report card to be mailed to your house but I would still like to meet them." I look away. "From your essay, I can see they are great parents. You are a special child and now I can see why." I look at teacher with tear-filled eyes. "What I wrote are all lies."

20 years later...

My phone rings. I give an annoyed little sigh and pick up the phone. "Ah girl, hi! How are you today?" "Mom, I am busy." "Oh. Sorry. Just want to ask you whether you want to come home and have dinner with your father and I. It's your birthday today." "I have plans already." "Oh. How about tomorrow night?" I remain silent, thinking. "Baby... I know your father and I haven't been the best parents. We were so caught up in our work and our problems we just forget what was more important. Finally, we got everything we wanted but we lost the most important thing in our lives. You." I still remain silent. "I know it's a bit late but we would like to give you what we should have given you." "And what is that, mom?" "Time. And love." "I got to go, mom. See you tomorrow night, 7 pm. Bye."

We think there is endless time to live but we never know which moment is last. So, share, care, love, and celebrate every moment of life. - Unknown

The Love Series: The Power of Words

The clock struck 5 and sounds of bags being zipped up and murmured farewells can be heard. Another work day was over. Katie remained in her office for a little while longer, not wishing to join in the rush hour traffic. She continued looking at the documents when her phone buzzed. She looked at it. It was Sam. She smiled before picking up the phone.

"Hello?"
"Hey, baby. Done with work?"
"Work is never done, Sam. What's up?"
"Oh. Well... Nothing, actually. Just want to check up on you and hear your voice."
"Check up on me? I am not a two-year-old anymore, thank you very much."
"That's not what I meant, baby. I just-"
"Never mind. If you are done hearing my voice, then please leave me alone to do my work."
"Okay. Bye."

Katie hung up the phone. 3 months into her first relationship and she still cannot understand why Sam says the things he said. Checking up on her? Worried about her? Hearing her voice? Missing her? Thanking her for nothing in particular? She has never heard all these phrases before. To her, all these just means that he didn't trust her enough to look after herself and he is just way too free. What is wrong with him?

Sam looked at his phone blankly after the call to Katie. He was in a state of confusion. Most girls find it heartwarming when their boyfriends called just to check up on them and hear their voice. Not Katie. She was his first serious girlfriend. He really loved the way she smiled and her seriousness towards their relationship. But it seems like whatever he said is always wrong. What is wrong with her?

"Get that remote control for me and then stay out of my way!" Katie scrambled to her feet and got the television remote control for her uncle. But before she could sit back down on the narrow little table to finish up her drawing, her aunt hollered for her. "Hang out that basket of clothes, you lazy girl! Can't you see how busy I am already? You are nothing but a nuisance to us. Damn your parents for going so early and adding to our already very heavy burden. You better make yourself useful!" Katie quietly went to hang out the clothes. Her cousins came and disturbed her, making fun of her. They took down all the clothes that she had hung and threw it in the mud. Then they ran to their mother and said Katie dirtied their clothes on purpose. Her aunt grabbed her and took her to her uncle. Her uncle stood up and undo his belt around his waist. She knew she would be spanked for a crime she did not commit. She started screaming and crying. The belt came down on her sore butt.

Katie woke up, gasping. Sam was driving the car. He looked at her with concern and took her hand.

"You alright?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"Nightmare?"
"Not exactly."
"Hey, whatever it is, you can tell me. I am here for you."
"Look, I am fine, okay?"
"Okay, okay."

Sam released her hand and continue driving. Soon, they reached his parents' house. They rang the doorbell and Sam's mother, Mrs. Tan, opened the door. She threw her arms around Sam and hugged him tight.

"Hey, mom!"
"Sam! So good to see you, dearie!"
"Yeah. Miss you too, mom. This is Katie."

Sam introduced Katie. Mrs. Tan hugged Katie too. Katie stiffen. This is all so weird for her. Her aunt never hugged her before.

"Hello, darling! It's good to finally meet you! Sam never tell me how beautiful you are!"
"Uh... Hi, Mrs. Tan."
"Come on in! I have just finished cooking!"

They went into the house and Mr. Tan greeted them heartily, hugging Sam and shaking hand with her.

"Well, son. It's been so long!"
"Hey, dad! This is Katie."
"Hello, Katie. I do hope Sam has been behaving himself!"
"Hi, Mr. Tan. Sam has been really good to me, no worries."
"I am just joking! But it's still good to know my son is behaving himself."

Mr. Tan roared with laughter. Katie just stood there, smiling uncertainly. This family is very weird. Where is all the shouting? Where is all the sarcasm and biting remarks? Why is it that this family is hugging people and joking around? This is all very new to Katie.

Throughout the whole visit, Mr. and Mrs. Tan were very warm and hospitable to Katie. They forbid her to help out in the kitchen and kept taking food for her during dinner. When they talked to Sam and asked him about his work, they never once shouted at him or say anything sarcastic. She was waiting for an argument to start but there was none. They just conversed normally and laughed a lot, embarrassing Sam every now and then but it all showed genuine love.

When Mr. and Mrs. Tan asked about Katie's family background and got to know that her parents passed away in a car accident when she was 7, Mrs. Tan reached out and patted her hand. They were genuinely sorry and concerned for her. How is this even possible? She is an outsider, like her aunt always said. She doesn't have any rights to anything. Everything she has now, she earned it by working hard.

During the drive home later that night, Sam took her hand again.

"Sorry about my parents. They can be too friendly sometimes."
"No, it's okay."
"You have been very quiet. Is everything alright?"
"Yeah."
"You sure?"
"Seriously, Sam. How many times do I have to tell you?"
"Okay. Fine. Sorry."

They drove back in silence. Sam dropped her off at her rented apartment. She went up to her room and lie down on her bed, processing her evening with Sam's parents.

A few weeks later, Sam and Katie went out for dinner.

"So, when are we going to meet your aunt and uncle?"
"You seriously wouldn't want to meet them."
"Why not? You have met my parents. I would like to meet your guardians too."
"No, Sam."
"Please, Katie. It wouldn't be as bad as my parents."

Katie went silent. Sam sighed but didn't say anything more on this subject. He then talked about other things.

Katie was driving with Sam to meet her aunt and uncle. The whole way, Sam saw how tense she was and she was holding on to the steering wheel really tightly.

"Hey-"
"Don't say a word, Sam. Just don't."

Sam kept quiet. But he was worried. Why was she so tensed up? What's wrong?

They arrived at the house. Katie rang the doorbell. Her aunt opened the door.

"So, you are back. This is your boyfriend, huh? Never thought you are good enough to get a job, let alone a boy."
"Uh... Hi, aunty."
"No need to be all sweet on me, boy. I got nothing for you."

Katie's aunt went in the house. Sam looked at Katie but Katie avoided his eye contact. They went into the house. Katie's uncle was watching the television.

"Hi, uncle."
"Who are you, boy?"
"I am Sam, Katie's boyfriend."

Sam extended a hand towards Katie's uncle. He didn't take it. He just stared at him coolly and then went back to his television. Sam was even more confused. Katie's aunt came into the living room.

"What do you want?"
"Nothing, aunt. We just want to visit you."
"Visit me? Please. I know you are not so goodhearted. I got no money for you."
"No, aunt. I am not here to ask for money. We really just came for a visit."

Katie's aunt frowned. Then she turned away and went back into the kitchen. Katie's uncle ignored them. They sat awkwardly in the living room for a few minutes. Finally, Katie stood up and left without another word. Sam followed.

They got in the car and drove in silence for a while.

"Katie, stop the car."

Katie did what Sam said. She turned into a park near her childhood home and stopped. They got out of the car and sat on a bench.

"Just say it."
"Say what, Katie?"
"That I am disgusting. My family is awful. You want to break up with me."
"Why would I say all those hurtful words to you?"
"Because it's the truth."
"No, it's not."
"I can handle it, okay. Just spill it out and get it done."
"Katie."
"I am not as fragile as you think I am, okay."
"Katie."
"I have totally prepared myself for this already. I won't do stupid things."
"Katie."
"I didn't want you to meet my aunt and uncle because I know you would be disgusted. They are so different from your parents."
"Katie."
"I am a nobody, Sam. I have nothing. If your parents see what you saw today, they wouldn't approve of me anymore."
"Katie."
"My whole life, I only know sarcasm and biting remarks. That is my world. This is who I am."
"Katie."
"You deserve someone better, Sam. I am no good for you."
"KATIE!!!"
"What? What?"
"I love you."

Katie looked at Sam. He looked back at her steadily. A tear slide down Katie's cheeks.

"Say it again."
"I love you"

Katie started to cry. Sam hugged her tightly and kept repeating that 3 powerful words to her. Katie finally understood the meaning of love and the power of words.

Love is accepting each other's flaw and help each other to become a better person.

Words have the power to destroy a person emotionally and mentally but can also heal and uplift a person.

Epilogue: Those 3 powerful words that Sam said was the beginning of Katie's healing process. Sam and Katie dated for a few years. During that time, Katie changed a lot. The healing process was long and sometimes very hard but Sam was there with Katie all the way through. Sam's loving, encouraging and comforting words brought Katie out of her shell. From a low self-esteem girl to a confident girl. Later on, Sam and Katie got married.

May

Hello! Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time, in a land called Malaysia, a baby girl was born. Her name is May.

(Fast forward a lot here.)

She married and is now living in a small town called Kota Kemuning. She goes to a church called New Life and met another girl. A few years later, she was working with this girl she met in church. They get to know each other pretty well and became the best of friends.

The girl is me. =)

Nice story, right? Okay, it isn't much of a story. Just an introduction of my friend, May. See, today is her special day. It's her birthday today! I am dedicating this blogpost to her and I want to tell you what an awesome person she is.

She is a teacher. A teacher who teaches not only through words but also through actions. I learn so much just by watching her. I learned how to communicate with children because I watched her conduct her kindergarten class. I learned how to be a better housekeeper because I watched her keep her house neat and tidy. Of course, she also imparted wisdom, knowledge and strength to me from time to time through our conversations.

She lives a simple and humble life. I learned to count my blessings and just be content with whatever I have. She never boast or brag. She taught me to have faith in the Lord and pray whenever I am in trouble. She is caring, gentle and kind. She is always there with a smile, ready to listen to you and help you out.

I am who I am today partly because of her. If I hadn't met her when I met her, I really don't know what I will become today. She kept me in line, watching over me. We would spend time together and just talk about life. She would counsel me and guide me to make the right choices. We would laugh together and share our life stories with each other.

She might be a lot older than me but somehow we just clicked. She is my teacher, my sister and my friend. She is also my role model and my guardian angel that watches over me. She is another important person that God has placed in my life for which I am so thankful for.

Hey, May! Sorry there isn't any cupcakes or handmade stuff for your birthday this year. Nothing in this world can represent my appreciation, gratitude and respect for you, my lady. All I can do is to just write this blogpost and tell everyone that I know what an awesome person you are and how lucky I am to have you in my life. This is the best way I know to honour you. Thank you so much for everything. You are so awesome, May.

God bless you, May. Happy birthday! Love you lots! =)

Because she is just so awesome! =D
(That kid is not me, by the way. Just a student in the kindergarten we worked in. xD)

Taiwan

Hello, my dear readers! Plenty apologies for starting the new year with an extremely sad post. Things are, more or less, settled down. Now, let me tell you about this beautiful country I went to during Christmas last year. I spent a week there with my family and had a fabulous time. Yup, you got it right. I went to Taiwan! To be precise, I visited Taipei and Taichung. Both places are really awesome and unique in their own way. An ancient Chinese proverb said: "One picture is worth ten thousand words". So, I am going to show you pictures of the places I visited with simple captions. The pictures are going to worth more than ten thousand words. =)

Taipei

The 2 pictures above was in a little town called Rui Fang. Our main destination wasn't here, though. This was just a stop. But the dessert they sell in that shop was awesome.

This is Shi Fen, a small little town tucked in the outskirts of Taipei. This was our main destination. Yes, that is an actual train track. Yes, trains are still using that track. No, nobody died. When the train is coming, an officer will blow the whistle and the people will go to the side.

One of the famous night markets in Taipei.

Of course, the famous 101 Tower. We had to go there and take pictures of this tower. Otherwise, who would believe we went to Taipei? Going to Taipei without going to 101 Tower is equivalent to not having been to Taipei before. (So everyone says...)

The National Music Theatre. Very ancient and Chinese looking.

Ahh.. C.K.S Memorial Hall. A whole big building dedicated to the man who founded Taiwan.

The Palace Museum. There were a lot of people there that day. So, we didn't go and see the exhibition. But we did enter a garden shown on the second picture. Very beautiful, quiet and peaceful.

We only spend 3 days in Taipei. 2 and a half days to be exact, because when we arrived it was late afternoon already. There were so many places we didn't get to visit in Taipei. We also couldn't stay long at each destination because we were trying to go to as many places as we can. Taipei's public transportation is very convenient. We took the MRT, high-speed train and bus to go to all these places. The MRT practically linked everywhere together.

Taichung

This is the Rainbow Village. All the drawings you see are done by one man. Yes, you read right. ONE man. The short version of the story: A bunch of old houses were going to be demolished. A guy came and started drawing. Government decided not to demolished the place anymore. Instead, transformed it into a tourist area. Awesome, right?

The Strawberry Farm. The strawberries are really sweet, you know. Unlike those in Cameron Highlands. xD

Is the first picture a real living sheep? Yes, it is! The Sheep Farm up in a mountain a little away from the city centre. Beautiful scenery and of course, many sheep around for you to touch and feed.

The Swiss Garden. Again, it's very.... green. Very nature. Flowers, tress and grass everywhere.

The Carton King! Everything you see here is made of cardboard. Very artistic, right? If I didn't remember wrong, it's also a guy's work. Very unique.

The Lavender Farm. Too bad we couldn't stay here for long. It's a very beautiful place. Very "nature" too. Very beautifully structured. It's the work of 2 young ladies. They are very successful now, considering the number of tourist they attracted.

No, I didn't suddenly end up in some Western country. I was still in Taichung. This is Xin She castle. Very antique, don't you think? The scenery is tops here too. So peaceful and quiet. I would love to live at a place like this.

Again, I was still in Taichung. This is The Old England. The buildings here are English style. Beautiful scenery too.

We spent 3 days there. A full 3 days. Also, we hired a driver to drive us around. So, we get to see more things. Taichung's public transportation is not as convenient as Taipei, though. Taichung, like Taipei, is city-like but there are more nature places.

We went to famous night markets in both Taipei and Taichung. Food there was awesome. You want to eat authentic beef noodles? Go Taipei. You want to get delicious pastries that cannot be found here in Malaysia? Go Taichung. The finger food (or rubbish food, as my parents like to say) in the night markets are fantastic too. Just a note here. If you ever pass the smelly toufu stalls there, don't wrinkle your nose or pinch your nose or show a disgusted face or say it's smelly. It's an insult to them. Their smelly toufu is one of their signature finger food.

So, this is my adventure in Taiwan. Would I go back again? Definitely. There are still many places I have not visited. You should consider going to Taiwan too. I would say it's worth it. =)
